    My Answer:

    Probity in public life:
    1. It refers to strict adherence to a code of ethics based on undeviating honesty.
    2. It is regarded as being uncorrupt.
    3. It is an umbrella term which involves integrity, uprightness and honesty.

    Difficulties in practicing probity in public life in present times:
    1. High level of inequality among communities.
    2. Low moral values in the heart of politicians.
    3. Poor work culture.
    4. No fear and accountability.
    5. No feeling of self respect as well as no respect for others’ morale.
    6. No incentive.
    7. Lack of leadership.
    8. Increasing lust of money and materialism.
    9. Increasing consumerism.
    10. Discretion and no transparency.

    These difficulties can be overcome by:

    1. Transformational leadership.
    2. Value education.
    3. Decentralization and people empowerment.
    4. Strong oversight through parliament, law enforcement, independent media and a vibrant civil society.
    5. Code of ethics and a sound work culture.
    6. High level of tolerance and dedication.
    7. Bringing about transparency and accountability in the functioning of the government.
    8. E-governance and good governance can be a worthy step in this direction.
