Indian National Congress was founded by a British retired Civil Servant of ICS in 1885.The main aim of the Govt. to allow to formation of the Congress at that time was more or less to act as a mediator between Indian mass and British Government of India in any situation of conflict and alarm British Government to address the problem by any means.
Mostly Indian founding members of the Congress were well educated and were called as Moderates as their approach towards British Government was Moderate i.e. by the means of Propaganda , Protest and Petition to solve any problems relating to Indian people suffering through the hands of the Government. They want to solve any issue amicably by writing letters to the Govt. They don’t want that British leave the country initially.
On the other hand the extremists were the leaders who want to overthrow British Government from India by any means as they were extremist in their approach to solve the mass suffering in the hand of the Govt. They believe in plundering, murdering and terrorizing the Govt. officials to make their demand fulfilled. Lala Lajpat Rai, Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Vipin Chandra Pal were the important personalities or leaders in this group of Indian Congress.
In this way both have different ideologies towards one end i.e. to relieve Indian Mass from the sufferings under the Colonial Government of India.
