The word “India independence” became synonymous with “Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi” and vice-versa. He was a great asset as a national and spiritual leader of the resistance against the British domination over India. Though we might have got independence even
without Gandhi ji like other african countries but the plight of rural poor, harijans and women would have been stagnated to pre independence level.
Some points which prove how beneficial Gandhi ji participation in indian independence and the drawback if he didn’t participate:-

    >Being a principled man, he was able to organise a resistance that was ethically proportioned and centred, which is referred to as the non violence resistance.
    >Without him freedom struggle could not have attained the mass character. He was a large inspiration to the millions, which assisted him in the pursuit of the independence of India
    >He acted in accordance to the truth, with persistence and determination in the light of good and was an active opposer of injustice.
    >Extremist elements could have taken over the struggle (just before Gandhi ji advent extremist groups were strong during first world war;ex ghadar)
    >Moderates already disillusioned; Extremists suffering repression; it was also possible that religious elements could have taken over the lead.
    >Without Gandhi, British policy of divide and rule would have even divided hindu society;(communal award-poona pact bwn gandhi and ambedkar)
    >No wonder balkanisation of india would have occurred and india becoming a theocratic state.
